Heirloom Tales makes custom picture books, one family at a time. This page explains what information we collect when you order a book, how we use it, and the promises we make about it. Heirloom Tales is run by Erin Bryant in Summerville, South Carolina. If you have any question about your information, email erinb@lcbcc.org.
What we collect
When you order, we ask for your name, email address, phone number, and shipping address so we can make, deliver, and talk with you about your book. We also ask about the child or children the book is for: first name, nickname, birthday, a written description of how they look, what they enjoy, and the moments you want in the story. Photos are optional; if you choose to send them, we keep them only as described below. Our order form is a Google Form, so your answers are stored in our Google account.
Payments
Payments are handled by Stripe. Your card details go directly to Stripe and never pass through or sit on our website or files; we see only your name, email, and the amount paid. Stripe’s own privacy policy is at stripe.com/privacy.
Your photos and your child’s details
Your photos never go into any AI tool. Erin looks at them herself and writes a description of your child; the illustrations are drawn from that written description and from a character sketch she approves. Your photos are never published, shared, or sold, and we delete them from our files once your book has been delivered. The written details about your child are used only to write and illustrate your book and to talk with you about it.
How we use your information
We use what you give us to make your book, send proofs and invoices, ship your copies, answer your questions, and keep a record of your order. We may email you about your order and, occasionally, about Heirloom Tales; you can ask us to stop at any time. We do not sell, rent, or trade your information with anyone.
Who else sees it
A small number of services help us run the business and receive only what they need: Stripe (payments), Google (the order form and our email), the printer that prints and ships your copies (your name and shipping address), and our website host. Each of them has its own privacy policy. We share your information with no one else unless the law requires it.
Sharing finished books
We show a finished book on our website or social media only with your permission, which we ask for on the order form. You can say no, or ask us to leave out names, and you can change your mind later by emailing us.
How long we keep it
Photos are deleted after delivery. We keep your order details, your book’s story and artwork files, and invoices so we can reprint your book if you ask and meet our record-keeping obligations. If you would like your information removed sooner, email us and we will delete everything we are not required to keep.
Children
Our books are about children, but our customers are adults. We collect information about a child only from the parent, grandparent, or guardian ordering the book, and only to make that book.
Cookies and this website
This website does not use advertising cookies or trackers. Our web host may keep ordinary server logs (such as IP address and pages visited) to keep the site running and secure.
Your choices
You can ask to see, correct, or delete the information we hold about you at any time by emailing erinb@lcbcc.org. If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page.
